Swift Observations of GRB 160629A

A. D'Ai (INAF-IASFPA) and B.G. Balzer (PSU) for the Swift team

1. Introduction

Gotz et al. (GCN Circ. 19621) reported the GRB detection. A gamma ray burst lasting about 100 s has been detected by IBAS in the IBIS/ISGRI data at 22:19:30 UT of 2016 June 29. Table 1 contains the best reported positions from Swift.

Sokolov et al. (GCN Circ. 19623) reported the position from SAO RAS for the optical afterglow of this GRB. Castro-Tirado et al. (GCN Circ. 19632) determined a redshift of 3.332 from BTA. Table 2 is a summary of GCN Circulars about this GRB from observatories other than Swift.

2. BAT Observations and Analysis

BAT did not observe this burst.

3. XRT Observations and Analysis

XRT results are not available.

4. UVOT Observations and Analysis

The Swift/UVOT began settled observations (Balzer and Markwardt GCN Circ. 19643) of the field of GRB 160629A 77035 s after the INTEGRAL trigger (Gotz et al., GCN Circ. 19621). No optical afterglow consistent with the optical position (Klotz et al., GCN Circ. 19622, Sokolov, et al. GCN Circ. 19623) or the XRT position (D’Ai’ et al., GCN Circ. 19641) is detected. Table 3 gives preliminary magnitudes using the UVOT photometric system (Breeveld et al. 2011, AIP Conf. Proc., 1358, 373). No correction has been made for the expected extinction in the Milky Way corresponding to a reddening of EB-V of 0.40 mag. in the direction of the GRB (Schlegel et al. 1998).
