P. M. Kuin (UCL-MSSL) and F. E. Marshall (NASA/GSFC) report on behalf of the Swift/UVOT team: The Swift/UVOT began settled observations of the field of GRB 201024A 495 s after the BAT trigger (Marshall et al., GCN Circ. 28761). No optical afterglow consistent with the XRT position (Evans et al. GCN Circ. 28770) is detected in the initial UVOT exposures. Preliminary 3-sigma upper limits using the UVOT photometric system (Breeveld et al. 2011, AIP Conf. Proc. 1358, 373) for the first finding chart (FC) exposure and subsequent exposures are: Filter T_start(s) T_stop(s) Exp(s) Mag white_FC 495 645 147 >17.9 white 495 2065 430 >18.3 v 653 2115 175 >18.0 b 750 2042 136 >19.0 u 726 2017 136 >18.0 w1 702 1992 136 >18.0 m2 677 2140 175 >18.8 w2 801 2091 156 >19.5 The magnitudes in the table are not corrected for the Galactic extinction due to the reddening of E(B-V) = 0.03 in the direction of the burst (Schlegel et al. 1998). =========== Draft Detection Circular ======== GRB 201024A: Swift/UVOT Detection N. A source consistent with the XRT position (Evans et al. GCN Circ. 28770) is detected in the initial UVOT exposures. The preliminary UVOT position is: RA (J2000) = 08:23:48.56 = 125.95233 (deg.) Dec (J2000) = +03:21:14.6 = 3.35405 (deg.) with an estimated uncertainty of 0.44 arc sec. (radius, 90% confidence). Preliminary detections and 3-sigma upper limits using the UVOT photometric system (Breeveld et al. 2011, AIP Conf.
