R. Oates (U.Warwick) and S. Dichiara (NASA/GSFC/UMCP) report on behalf of the Swift/UVOT team: The Swift/UVOT began settled observations of the field of GRB 190829A 106 s after the BAT trigger (Dichiara et al., GCN Circ. 25552). No optical afterglow consistent with the XRT position (Dichiara et al. GCN Circ. 25552) is detected in the initial UVOT exposures. Preliminary 3-sigma upper limits using the UVOT photometric system (Breeveld et al. 2011, AIP Conf. Proc. 1358, 373) for the first finding chart (FC) exposure and subsequent exposures are: Filter T_start(s) T_stop(s) Exp(s) Mag white_FC 106 256 147 >19.4 u_FC 264 514 246 >19.2 white 106 1702 402 >17.9 v 598 1589 117 >16.0 b 521 1687 117 >17.5 u 264 1663 362 >18.4 w1 647 1638 117 >17.9 The magnitudes in the table are not corrected for the Galactic extinction due to the reddening of E(B-V) = 0.05 in the direction of the burst (Schlegel et al. 1998). =========== Draft Detection Circular ======== GRB 190829A: Swift/UVOT Detection S.
